Why did we chose this music video to re-create?
We chose it because we thought it was way too ridiculous and cheesy, therefore making it fun to film. It also included alot of tricky shots and choreography making it very interesting.
What went well?
Getting the location and the costume right was very easy as we already had the clothes and knew the location to do it due to using it in our previous AS coursework. The costume was also easy to match as the singers don't change clothes throughout the video because of its continuity editing. We also didn't need any props. The video didn't require any lighting either as it was shot outside and the weather was perfect.
Most of the filming was also easy as it only varied from long shots to close ups and the hardest micro technical element to re-create was the timing of the zoom out.
The editing didn't require any special effects, only colour correction which is easy enough to do.
What did we struggle with?
The whole of the choreography was very difficult as we only had a short space of time to learn the sequence as we needed to finish the video in under 2 weeks. The choreography also harder than it looks and we struggled to slide and role on the concrete. We cut the shots in the music video into separate files so we could learn it in stages.
Mouthing the words whilst doing the choreography was also very hard as we had to concentrate on two things at once.
The match on actions were very hard to recreate in the editing process as our timing was not perfect and the shots were very fast in parts.
What precautions did we make?
After I rolled over a piece of metal, we decided to clear the concrete floor to prevent other injuries from happening. We also decided to tuck bubble wrap down our trousers so the roll didn't hurt so much on the concrete seen as we had to perform it many times.
